One Common Experience -Pain and Hurt

When you are deeply hurt, no person on this earth can shut down the inner fears and deepest agonies. No one can really understand the battle you are going through, or the wounds inflicted on you. This is what the Psalmist was wrestling with in [Psalm 6:6-7 NKJV] when he said, “I am weary with my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.” Pain and hurt are the most excruciating pain known to mankind.

There Is Always Hope! You Choose!

Is there a balm for a broken heart? Is there healing for those deep, inner hurts? Can the pieces be put back together, and the heart be made even stronger? Can the person who has known such horrible pain and suffering rise out of the ashes of depression and find a new and more powerful way of life? Yes! Absolutely yes! We must be like Paul who simply refused to go down with the ship….  We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed [2 Corinthians 4:8-9, NLT].

Choose To Rejoice

The Apostle Paul’s view of “victory” means, “Yes, I face trouble every day, and sometimes I despair of my own life. I’m under pressure all the time. I get confused. People attack me. Sometimes I get ‘knocked down by life’. But that’s when the power of Christ shows up to help me. If I have victory, it is victory through trouble, not victory apart from trouble.” That’s the message we need to hear today. What Paul had – and what we can have – was extraordinary. Extra-ordinary joy rejoices no matter what happens to be going on at the time. Because none of us can escape the sharp pain or crushing grief in some of life’s worst circumstances, but any of us can, even in that hour, choose to rejoice.

Fiery trials in life are inevitable! The Bible makes it clear that there will be times when we will pass through times of heartache and sorrow, but don’t give up and don’t give in. Don’t let the situation become “Who you are”; it merely was and is something that “happened to you. So, lay off all your guilt trips. Stop condemning yourself. Stop trying to figure out what you did wrong. It’s what you are thinking right now that really counts with God. You did not make a mistake – more likely you simply gave too much. Sorrow, tears, pain, and emptiness may swallow you up at times – but God is still on His throne. He is still God! Besides, God didn’t promise to give us a painless way of life. He promised us “a way of escape.” He promised us help to bear our pain. He promised strength to put us back on our feet when weakness makes us stagger. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” [Psalms 30:5, KJV].

Daily Opportunities!

Each new day of your life is a gift from God that He wants you to live fully. But if the pain and hurt you’ve suffered in your past is still impacting your life now, you can’t fully embrace the new life God offers you because you’ll be stuck in a frustrating cycle of brokenness that will leave you feeling hopeless. The key to overcoming your past pain and hurt is making choices that invite God’s hope into your life.

Asking God!

Ask God to break the hold that your pain and hurt has over you and show you what useful lessons you can learn from it, so that you can begin moving forward. God is much more powerful than your history, and when you trust Him, He will start to transform your pain into healing and wisdom in your life. So, look up! Encourage yourself in the Lord! When the fog surrounds you and you can’t see any way out of your dilemma – lay back in the arms of Jesus and simply trust Him! He has to do it all! He wants your faith – your confidence! He wants you to cry aloud – “Jesus loves me! He is with me! He will not fail me! He is working it all out right now! I will not be cast down! I will not be defeated! I will not be a victim of Satan! I will not lose my mind or my direction! For no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). And if God is for me, who can be against me?

Meditate on this: For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us [Romans 8:18, NKJV].

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” [John 16:33].

Lord! Hallelujah to Your Precious Name! You heal the broken-hearted and bandage their wounds [Psalms 147: 3], and through Your grace, I am healed from the pain that I feel, and I am no longer crippled by it.

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Awesome Creator, You deserve praise! Day after day You carry my burden, You are my God who delivers me. I know that You will deliver me from the intense pain that I feel. I know this because You are a God who delivers; the Lord, the Sovereign Lord, who rescues from death. You save me from distresses and heal me from my brokenness. Thank You for also relieving me of my pain, in Jesus name, Amen.
