Spread the Blessing!
Why is faith so important? Because faith is the doorway that enables God to work both in and through us! Faith helps us grow, it changes lives, moves mountains, and allows miracles to happen. Faith gives us the confidence that we need to take the next step in life, often without knowing the future. Without faith, there’s little chance of hope for the future. Without faith, we tend to stagnate in life. Because Bible faith is not only the belief or idea of something you hope to accomplish – it is the actual steps you take to accomplish your goals! (James 2:14-26)
Faith is important because it affects the decisions we make, the way we interact with others, and the way we react to the situations that confront us. People have moved mountains (i.e., accomplish the impossible) with their faith. Even when situations seemed dire and bleak, it was their faith that carried them through. Faith is trust -–Faith is belief -–Faith is confidence-–Faith is Surrender; and Faith is certainly an assurance to us! Faith dictates that, we do not depend upon what our eyes see, but we rest upon the promises of God which we are certain of.
Acting on God’s Promises Will Strengthen Your Faith
Case in point, the powerful story in the bible called the Book of Job. The story is about a man named Job who was as astute as any man could be, and he believed strongly in God. But the story goes that one day the devil paid God a visit: The topic of discussion? Job’s faith! The devil reasoned that Job was faithful because he had been blessed with so much in life: Family, money, land, and respect. But the devil proposed that should God take any number of these things away from Job, he would no longer be the faithful man that God held him up to be. The devil claimed that Job would curse God, and that would prove his point; God, of course, disagreed! Thereafter, God began allowing things to be taken away from Job’s life. Over the course of these trials, Job lost everything that he had worked so hard to create over the years: His livestock, money, family, friends, and, ultimately, his health. However, even when his wife told him to curse God, Job didn’t. He remained faithful [See The Book of Job].
Afterwards, God restored all of Job’s worldly possessions, family, and health. To add to that, God multiplied what Job once had many times over. Friends, what is the moral of the story? Never lose faith! For a person without faith is likened to a stream without water—they would cease to exist [James 1:12 NIV].
Simply put, the importance of faith cannot be underestimated. Faith trumps stress, anxiety, and fear. It acts as the pathway to finding solutions. Without faith all is lost [Hebrews 11:1]. Faith is trust. Faith is belief. Faith is confidence. Faith is Surrender. Faith dictates that we do not depend upon what our eyes see, but we rest upon the finished wok of Christ on the Cross [John 19:28-30], and by depending on the Holy Spirit, we take corresponding actions, in accordance with God’s Word, in order to complete our faith—this would be true Bible faith that produces Godly results!
Living By Faith Is a Lifestyle
Faith influences many areas of our lives. Faith is what affords us eternal life. Don’t lose sight of that. It’s just not a verbal assent that you believe. But it is a lifestyle change that communicates that you are fully dependent upon God.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” [James 1:5-8, NIV].
Sadly, there are times when our faith wanes. Our circumstances feel too difficult, our hope is too small, and our belief in what is unseen withers. Hence, like the father of the demon-possessed son in [Mark 9, KJV], we all need help with our faith sometimes: “I believe! Help my unbelief.”
Friend, do you need to act on your faith? Like the father in this passage of Scripture, you can act on God’s promises as revealed in His Word and trust Him with the results. The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!” [Luke 17:5, KJV]. Even the disciples that walked with Jesus needed to strengthen their faith. Jesus told them, if their faith was only the size of a mustard seed, they could uproot trees and crumble mountains. Tell the Lord, help me to trust in you as I act in faith, and help me to become a “mover of mountains.” Grow my belief in You alone so that I would be strong in the Lord and ready to battle against self-doubts and the doubts planted by the enemy!
Without faith it’s impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him [Hebrews 11:6, NIV].
