Spread the Blessing!
No one is immune to the emotion of doubt; each one of us can be tempted to doubt God’s promises! Even the greatest men and women of God as recorded in the Bible, such as King David, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Simon Peter, Eve, Elijah, etc., all dealt with doubt at some point in their relationship with God -– I tell you, everybody deals with doubts! You see, when “life is hard” the enemy can tempt us to doubt God’s goodness, His love, provisions, forgiveness of our sins, etc. Doubt is the enemy’s snare. When we allow Satan access into our minds as his playground, he will rob us of our inheritance as sons and daughters of God.
The only sure way to overcome doubt as Jesus demonstrated is to place our Faith in God’s Word. You must come to a place where God’s Word is more real to you than anything you can see, taste, hear, smell, or feel; so that, when you’re in doubt, you can stand on His promises and train yourself to believe, with the help from the Holy Spirit [John 20:27 NIV]. The Lord said, “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them” [ Mark 11:23, NIV]. Jesus is making a point-– Faith activates power! And we have His power, but the only thing that holds us back from utilizing it is our inability to exercise our faith in Him.
Do Not Allow Your Doubts To Control You!
If our hearts are aligned with His will for His glory, we can move mountains! But when we let our doubts go unchecked, they can grow into fear and unbelief. So don’t let your doubts become an obstacle in your journey. Don’t allow doubts to change the rules of the game. Stay the course as you exercise enough faith to continue taking the steps that lie ahead of you in the life you’re creating. And remember, doubt can never be offset simply by reasoning, persuasions, or sufficient evidence. Evidence supports faith, but does not cause it! Faith is both a gift of God and the willing acceptance of the truth [Ephesians 2:8; Romans 10:10]. The awesome beauty of God’s goodness is that His creatures are free to doubt and disbelieve – but “without faith it is impossible to please God” [Hebrews 11:6, NIV].
You know, Nelson Mandela said, “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers fear.” Experiencing fear is normal, but we don’t need to let it beat us. Eleanor Roosevelt reminds us that, “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, I’ve lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
Are You Willing To Live Above Your Doubts?
Are you ready to win over fear and doubt? If so, then live your life with Christ at the center, and remind yourself often that He is always at the center. He will not fail you, and He will not “bail out on you.” That’s not my promise to you, it’s His – and it’s one you can hold firm to. Don’t let your doubts cause you to miss what God has promised you.
And remember, in the race of faith that Jesus has called you to run, doubting is a weight you simply can’t keep running with. You’ve got to drop it, today! It’s time to lay aside the weights of your doubts-–Jesus died to free you from it -–He’s going to help you—and as the Bible teaches, let us be mindful of, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…[Hebrews 12:2 , NIV].
Friend, Let Us Pray Together!
Dear Heavenly Father, we are grateful that we can come to You at any time, about anything. We know that You listen to the earnest cries of our hearts. We know that You have great power; You are the Creator of heaven and earth. Yet, at times, we are still prone to doubt. It is astounding how many ways we find to doubt You. At times we doubt Your power and Your ability to do actual miracles in our lives. In other situations, we doubt that Your methods and solutions are the best way to go. We fool ourselves into believing that our ways will be superior to Your ways. And, most importantly, we doubt that all You are doing is the result of your great love for us. Lord, we confess to You our disbelief, and ask for Your help. Have mercy on us in our doubts, and give us vision and hope for what You will do. Deepen our trust in You and strengthen our faith, so that we can believe fully again in Your faithfulness. Lord give us the strength to overcome doubt. Build our faith in You and let us be strong in You in a way that doubt will have no space. We ask this humbly in Jesus Name. Amen.
