Emotional Healing Is Yours Today

“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall” [Psalm 13, NIV].

Don’t Let Your Hurt Define You

I tell you, none of us is exempt from being emotionally hurt from time to time. Life can be very cruel and hard, giving us emotional wounds and scars that affect our lives in a very negative way.  But thank God for there is a promise to be found within Jesus’ words and His actions.  Jesus sees you.  He sees you for who you are.  You are not the sum of your pain.  You are not defined by your scars.  You are a beloved child of God.  And because of that gift, you have some power. You can choose to step beyond the emotional scars and to live as a child of God.

Genuinely Seek God’s Help

Experiencing pain is never easy to handle. We each have emotions that vary, and memories that haunt us. No matter the trauma, no matter the intensity, God will always be there to give us comfort and encouragement. All we need to do is cry out to Him with our hearts. Lay out all of our pains on the table to Him in full honesty, vulnerability, and courage. He will never mock, tease, or ridicule. Instead, he genuinely cares for us and wants to help us to overcome our hurts. God’s mercy and grace can help us to overcome our pain, forgive our enemies, and heal our wounds from the inside out. Please seek him in your heart, right now. Don’t wait in suffering any longer. Let him hear all that you have held-in, bottled-up, and stuffed-down. He wants to give you the comfort and encouragement that you need to heal.

As you sincerely seek God’s help, the Holy Spirit, as surgeon, using the scalpel of the Word of God, will begin to cut right to the core, separating soul and spirit. As He does, you will begin to see not only the pain you feel, but more importantly, you will also see your own culpability for it. This is painful in and of itself, for you will come to understand that God is with you, healing you from the pain.

Hear and believe the promise that is found within the simple word that Jesus said to those two men, 2000 years ago: “Go.”  And be healed.  And remember: It is not your pain, nor your scars that define you.  It is only God’s great love for you that makes you who you are.  You are faced with a choice; a choice to be trapped within your pain, or a choice to seek healing.  A choice to let your scars define you, or a choice to survive…to open yourself up to the healing that comes from God, and to be, who God has called you to be.

Let’s Pray Together

Father, You are the Healer of the brokenhearted. You declare that You bind up their wounds. Because it is Your nature to heal, I ask You to heal all my emotional wounds. By Your love and power, remove the hurt and anger that I am experiencing. Help me move on to emotional wholeness [Psalm 147:3, KJV]. Cause me to know that there is hope, peace, and healing with You.  This I ask in Jesus Name. Amen!
