Jesus Is Risen – A Sure Hope in Christ!

Matthew 28:1-8, NIV

“After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb….There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. …The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. …So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.”

Jesus is indeed risen, alive and well, seated at the right hand of God the Father (1 Peter 3:21-22). This historical event of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a special time for all true followers of the Lord Jesus. While we are acutely aware, on a daily basis, about the presence of the Lord Jesus in our lives, this Holy Week is a special reminder to us for many reasons, below are just a few:

  1. We serve a Living God – God The Father – God The Son – God The Holy Spirit!
  2. God is faithful to keep His Word in the Scripture – the Lord Jesus’ Resurrection was a perfect fulfillment of All Scripture.
  3. Jesus Christ is He Who claimed to be – The Son of God – God in the Flesh (John 1:1-14)
  4. As followers of Jesus Christ, we too, will be Resurrected (See 1 Corinthians chapter15).
  5. Jesus is Alive – seated at the Right hand of God the Father and is continually interceding on behalf of His True followers – He is watching over us – take heart! He will never leave or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)

Indeed, this is the most blessed time of the year! Hence, as you celebrate this special time of the year, remember to share this hope of the Lord Jesus’ Resurrection with the dying world as well. So how do you share this hope? Below are some practical recommendations:

  1. Share with others the Absolute Truth that only the Lord Jesus, in the history of the World claimed to be God, and then He backed it up with verifiable evidence, such as His miracles, rising from the dead, etc. (See the Gospels) – all other so-called Religious Leaders needed a Savoir, Jesus Christ, and they are still dead, and their bodies can be found in their tombs. Hence, remind others that they should follow and serve a Living God –Jesus Christ – and not a dead leader!
  2. Share with others the Absolute Truth that the Lord Jesus died for their personal sins. Also remind others that, (1) God only requires that they believe in the Lord Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, and that, (2) He is raised from the dead; and, once they genuinely believe and confess this Truth and accept the forgiveness of their sins, (3) God will accept them as His children, into His Glorious Kingdom (Romans 10:9).

Friend, as you celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ this 2024, allow the Joy of the Lord to shine in and through you, so that others can see and desire the Joy of the Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
